Top: Girls
SHIRTS/BLOUSES will be White (8th Grade); Yellow (7th Grade); and Black (6th Grade). *White, yellow or red pullover with collar and buttons. *Solid white short-sleeve undershirt. *White camisoles may be worn under knit shirts. *NO LOGOS/DESIGNS ON ANY OF THE SHIRTS (including undershirts). *A long sleeve shirt MAY NOT be worn under short sleeve shirt. *No blousing of shirts (shirts must be tucked in neatly, waistband and belt must be visible). *No patches, emblems, designs, decorations, or drawings should be on shirts except Washington’s Logo. *No oversized shirts or blouses permitted.

Skirts/Jumpers/Pants: Khaki *Skirts must be pleated (No A-line and no kilts). *Acceptable skirt length is 2 - 3 inches (maximum elevation) front and back, as measured from mid-knee. *Shorts or skorts (looks like a skirt in front and shorts in back) are NOT permitted. *Students cannot wear stretch pants or warm-ups under skirt. *Poly-cotton blend, uniform style. *No jeans, denim or corduroy materials

SOCKS may be White or Black *Crew socks at least 4 to 5 inches above shoe and over ankle or knee length socks, NO ANKLETS/FOOTIES or TENNIS SOCKS *Plain; no logos, designs, or emblems. *Students must wear only one color socks at a time. *Girls who wear tights and socks together must wear the same color. (Example white tights/white socks)

OUTERWEAR Black *Garments must not be grossly OVERSIZED. * Solid black jackets, sweater (cardigan or pullover)(NO HOODIES)(no logos) except Washington’s. *Solid red sweatshirt (no logo except Washington’s.) *School-sponsored sweatshirts with elective emblems. *Only what is permitted in the classroom is permissible in the cafeteria and during physical education.
Additional Notes
Pants: *Cuffed or un-cuffed pants must be hemmed *No oversized pants; must be worn at waistline. Additions to Uniform Policy: • No hats or caps allowed • No shorts allowed • Pants must be worn above the waist. • NO SAGGING PANTS • Shirt tails must be tucked into the pants or skirts at all times, so the belt is visible 360 degrees around the pants or skirts. • No printed undershirts (Plain white t-shirts only) *** Sagging-Prohibitions “Sagging” is defined as the practice of wearing shorts or trousers pulled down several inches below the waist with boxer shorts exposed up to the waist. Some law enforcement experts believe that sagging allows a person to hide weapons inside their clothing. Through the establishment of dress code policies, some school districts have prohibited students from wearing sagging pants. However, few courts have addressed the issue, thus far the courts that have addressed the issue have concluded that sagging pants are not a form of protected expressive speech. School official may prohibit students from dressing in this way on school property. We have decide that sagging will be prohibit at Booker T. Washington Middle School with first offense an Administrative Conference. Under Mobile County School board Policy, all students at Booker. T. Washington Middle School will be required to wear approves uniforms on campus at all times. Any student who is out of uniform will be disciplined and will not be able to attend classes while out of uniform. All items in this policy comprise the uniform. No articles of clothing, including all shirts, pants, skirts, socks, sweaters and jackets, may display a name-brand emblem or logo of any kind, other than approved Washington emblem. Tee shirts or any other clothing article worn under skirts and blouses must be solid white without writing, logos, or markings of any kind. Uniforms are expected to be kept neat and clean. Uniforms with holes, tears, or stains should not be worn to school. Shirttails must be tucked into pants or skirts at all times, and the black uniform belt worn.
